City of Angels · Jasmine Benjamin

About

City of Angels is a 160-page book of Los Angeles street style by photographer and stylist Jasmine Benjamin, published by Damiani with a foreword by Chioma Nnadi.

The book

Over 120 people, photographed across the length and breadth of Los Angeles: streetwear designers, musicians and artists, skaters and surfers, vintage dealers, punks and free spirits, from Topanga Canyon and Venice to Echo Park, Los Feliz, South Central, Inglewood, Baldwin Hills and Leimert Park.

Nobody is dressed by a stylist for the camera. Each subject is photographed in their own clothes, in the neighbourhood where they live or work, which is what makes the book a record of the city rather than a fashion shoot staged inside it.

Jasmine Benjamin is a photographer and stylist based in Los Angeles, and worked here as photographer, creative director and producer. The foreword is by Chioma Nnadi, art direction by Kilo Kish, edited by Sophia Dearborn and published by Damiani in 2025. Her own work is at jasminebenjamin.com.

2026 Booktique Award for Best Lifestyle Book. Written about in Vogue, GQ, Complex, Los Angeles Times.
